We face a very uncertain future with regard to power generation and energy consumption
in Britain. This is solely due to blinkered thinking, utter stupidity, and inane
policies (such as the climate change one) by successive governments. We face blackouts
- hours at least - of no electrical power, no lighting and, of course, no heating
(ALL gas and oil boilers rely on electricity to function).
Can you beat this? Yes, you could supply your own power through solar panels, and
you could always supply your own heating through wood burning. If you have the land,
give serious thought to the growing of trees which can be cut down to provide your
own heat, at least.
If you can’t, then at least purchase a few bottles of ethanol and a small, cheap
ethanol burner. This will give you instant heat which you can safely burn indoors
with no flue or chimney - yes, you can even burn it in a flat (apartment) with all
the windows closed. Though be aware that it does emit quite a lot of water vapour,
so prolonged use would see a condensation issue for your home. This would at least
mean that you have your own heating should a power cut happen. If we get power cuts,
then it will certainly be during the winter. Britain really does face the death of
some people during these cuts, for various reasons. We have reached that level of
stupid. It’s amazing, isn’t it?
One question we get asked...
Why do wind and solar power cost so much?
The reason is simple. To bring in the Conservative and the Labour anti-CO2 policies
(climate change) Britain is forcing itself to rely on so-called ‘renewables’. This
is wind turbines and solar panel farms. Except that there’s a problem: Sometimes,
the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine. So we have to have a back up for
those times - an ability to generate power. This is an extremely costly policy, as
it effectively means that you’re supplying TWO sets of energy generation. In order
to resolve this, governments have looked at all sorts of crazy ideas, such as massive
battery farms costing billions and even flywheel devices. It is, without doubt, just
insane.
But there’s another huge cost - investment. Gas is already there, in the pipe. Coal
plants are there (not anymore!), but to start generating power from wind turbines
and solar panels, you have to build them. Companies won’t do this unless they are
assured that when they do get them up and running, they can charge the consumer (you)
an amount which is at least the same as what the highest energy source is going for.
Usually, that’s gas. So if gas is being sold at say, 15p per kilowatt hour to the
end consumer, these companies must be assured in writing that they will get 15p per
kilowatt hour for the electricity they will end up generating. Without that assurance
they won’t build anything. The government has to say to these companies that not
only will they definitely buy it, they will buy it even if they don’t need it - so
they will get paid even when the wind turbines aren’t turning!!! Only then will a
company build a wind farm. They are absolutely assured future income (no other trade
or industry is). This then means that there is a minimum cost to the end consumer
(you). You are forced by this policy to overpay for your electricity. Your power
could have come form a cheap source, like fracking, for example, but because the
government has committed to paying these companies, it is added to your annual bill.
You might think we could instead buy electricity at the market rate from say France
or Norway (we have huge transmission lines connected), but then we don’t have energy
security. In other words, if something happens in those countries, or they decide
suddenly to double the price, we’d be stuffed. So we must have our own energy supply.
Well, we have it already, in the form of gas, and coal (not anymore). Or perhaps
what we should have done is to sink hugely-deep holes in the ground (admittedly costing
billions) to send cold water down to a hot layer deep beneath. This water comes back
up very hot, and can be used to run turbines to generate electricity. It is literally
THE perfect way of generating power. There are zero emissions, no toxic substances
or residues, and it’s literally limitless. You could do it for millions of years
until we find Planet Milliband, and live there. Nuclear is another option, but planning
objections are going to be considerable and therefore costly. And you have the slight
risk of something going wrong.
And it gets worse. All these so-called renewables, such as wind turbines and solar
panels, have to be renewed! So in 20 years (sometimes less) you have to replace them
at considerable cost. And there’s the resources issue, as well. Turbines and solar
panels use components which are reasonably rare, and not from this country. You have
to source them from foreign countries. In 20 years, won’t other countries also be
looking to buy them? The basic rule of economics is that demand generates price.
If 100 countries are looking for lithium...what happens to the price of lithium?
And it gets worse. We may not just be priced out of the supply, if it’s a finite
supply, only a few million tonnes of it, we might not be able to get it at any price.
China will be laughing.
This is where we have got ourselves - into a painted corner...and all because it
is believed that CO2 is causing warming! Just think about that for a moment before
you consider this...
Perhaps the insanity is best summed up (completely accidently!) by the Royal Society,
an organisation completely and utterly intoxicated on the idea of global warming.
They produced a 20-point policy statement about climate change, hoping to answer
questions the public might raise. Here is their final point:
“If emissions of greenhouse gases were stopped, would the climate return to the conditions
of 200 years ago?
No. Even if emissions of greenhouse gases were to suddenly stop, Earth’s surface
temperature would require thousands of years to cool and return to the level in the
pre-industrial era.
If emissions of CO2 stopped altogether, it would take many thousands of years for
atmospheric CO2 to return to “pre-industrial” levels due to its very slow transfer
to the deep ocean and ultimate burial in ocean sediments. Surface temperatures would
stay elevated for at least a thousand years, implying a long-term commitment to a
warmer planet due to past and current emissions. Sea level would likely continue
to rise for many centuries even after temperature stopped increasing. Significant
cooling would be required to reverse melting of glaciers and the Greenland ice sheet,
which formed during past cold climates. The current CO2-induced warming of Earth
is therefore essentially irreversible on human timescales. The amount and rate of
further warming will depend almost entirely on how much more CO2 humankind emits.”
So what is the point, then…of spending trillions? And this is if the emissions were
stopped altogether. They have unwittingly and brilliantly summed up the utter futility
of doing anything at all. ALL that we are doing, according to the very people who
perpetuate the idea that man is causing the planet to warm, is utterly pointless.
All that we may do to try and stop it is futile - we have already gone too far. Just
let that sink in for a moment.
Of course, there are very many eminent scientists who say that it’s all tosh, that
we aren’t even causing the warming, anyway! You don’t hear from them because there
really is a conspiracy from media groups like the BBC to keep you from knowing it.
One of the foremost scientists to say it has recently won two Nobel prizes by proving
Einstein wrong, but you’ve never heard of Professor John Clauser. And you won’t.
The conspiracy is real.
But the above from the Royal Society is EVEN IF it is true. The whole thing, the
trillions we’ll spend, the tonnes of coal we’ll leave underground, the massive gas
fields that we won’t tap, the building of huge wind turbines and solar farms, and
the re-building of them in 20 years...is all for nothing. Now that, surely, is epic
stupidity at its finest? Future generations will look back on us and think we went
completely mad. If we want to be energy-secure, let’s burn that gas and coal WHILE
we sort ourselves out on deep geothermal power generation.
